Camera Technique
I shoot at a range of heights and angles :I hold each shot a little longer than may be required and then either split the scene or crop to make inserts :I never zoom in or out during a shot - zoom then record then zoom again : constantly aware of backlight and using White balance : shots are always framed with care avoiding background poles sticking out of heads:the inclusion of fast action shots helps to create variety : the use of manual focus is an added asset.
Editing Technique
Once captured frames are placed on the storyline editing starts in earnest -frames are cropped to the normal 3 to 5 seconds unless panning has been used : repositioning frames out of the sequence of recording often adds to the continuity; shots of interesting places visited are enhanced with the use of 'cross disolve' transition between each: added music (copyright free) suitably selected makes a good Home Movie presentation.
